The You Are My Sunshine – (YAMS) foundation has once again been named as the official charity for this year’s Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and with less than $60,000 needed to reach its $1 million goal, the volunteer-run group is counting down to the event.

“The finish line is now in sight and I can’t wait to race our way to the $1 million target and go out with a bang at this year’s event,” Jude Donahoo said, who established the foundation after she lost her granddaughter Khalilla to the childhood cancer neuroblastoma.

“Neuroblastoma is the most common solid tumour outside the brain affecting infants and young children. It’s a horrible cancer for these little children and their families to experience and YAMS Foundation gives me hope we can make a positive impact to children who are affected,” Jude said.

It’s the fifth year YAMS has been named as the event’s official charity, and so far it has raised over $940,000 since its 2009 inception. This has gone towards Dr Paul Wood’s research at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
